The PGA of America has announced a change in the selection process for the 2010 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team.

The 2010 Junior Ryder Cup will be held Sept. 23-30 at Gleneagles Resort on the PGA Centenary Course in Perthshire, Scotland. The United States team will be composed of six boys and six girls from the graduating year of 2011 or before.

The first five players will receive exemptions with the final spot to be determined by a captain’s pick.

Boys and girls exemptions can be earned by winning the 2009 Junior PGA Championship, the 2010 U.S. Junior and U.S. Girls’ Junior, the 2010 Junior PGA Championship, (with the runner-up receiving an exemption as well). If a player that wins one of the above tournaments is not eligible due to the graduation requirement the exemption then becomes a captain’s pick.

The team will be completed with a boy and girl captain’s selection and the top boy and girl from a points list from a points list that starts in 2009 and includes the AJGA invitationals, all PGA Junior Series events, USGA championships, PGA section championships and select independent events.

The USA team will be announced after the completion of the 2010 Junior PGA Championship on Aug. 6, 2010.
