Nielson leads Virginia to win at LSU

GOLFWEEK STAFF

No. 4 Virginia won the LSU Golf Classic Sunday, breaking a school record for 54-hole score.

The Cavaliers’ 8-under 856 total was 16 shots better than their previous best 54-hole mark set at last year’s ACC Championship. Their final-round 284 equaled the lowest single-round score in team history, too.

Arkansas’ Lucy Nunn won the individual title in a playoff over Virginia’s Calle Nielson and South Carolina’s Benedicte Toumpsin.

Tulane shot 278 in the final round to finish second. It was the best 18-hole score in tournament history. No. 11 LSU finished third.

Final scores with relation to par from the LSU Golf Classic, played March 13-15 at the par-72, 6,424-yard University Club in Baton Rouge, La. (Note: x-won playoff; y-played as individual):
