DUBLIN, Ohio – It’s June, do you know where your double major winner is from 2008?
While he’s been spotted here at the Memorial Tournament, there’s good reason to believe he’s not the real Padraig Harrington. At least not the one we’ve come to respect the past few years. Sitting 6-over through 14 holes of his second round at Muirfield Village, the Irishman is now 9-over and headed toward his fourth missed cut of the PGA Tour season.
More disconcerting is this: In 33 stroke-play rounds this year, Harrington has shot in the 60s just six times. He’s never been in contention and has just one finish inside the top 15.
His Irish eyes may still be smilin’, but his game is not shining.
