Long Beach State women’s coach Sue Ewart stepped down Thursday after 13 seasons with the program.
She will continue to work as a part-time assistant for the men’s and women’s teams.
“This will allow me to spend more time with my family and to play the sport that I love,” Ewart said. “It’s been a great 13 years and I have enjoyed my time as head coach at LBSU influencing the lives of many fine young ladies over the course of my career.”
Ewart, the reigning Big West Conference Coach of the Year, led the 49ers to the conference title for the first time in program history in the spring. Two of her players, Kay Hoey and Lee Lopez, earned first-team All-Big West honors.
