BEDMINSTER, N.J. – The rain that fell on Tuesday at the U.S. Junior Amateur paled in comparison to the persistent showers that blanketed Trump National Golf Club on Thursday.
Jordan Spieth managed the weather and slipped by Yosuke Asaji, 2 and 1, in the Round of 16. Asaji, along with Shuugo Imahira, was one of the last two remaining Japanese players in the field.
Imahira never trailed in his 3-and-2 win over Marcel Puyat, who upset Anthony Paolucci a day earlier in the Round of 64.
Juan Luna is the highest stroke-play finisher left in the field after he edged Patrick Rodgers, 1 up. Rodgers bogeyed the final hole.
Jim Liu, the youngest player left in the U.S. Junior field, fell to Nicholas Reach, 2 up. Liu will turn 14 on Aug. 9.
