North Carolina State’s Matt Hill won eight times last year as a sophomore and became just the second player to win a conference title, regional title and the NCAA Championship. The only other player in the history of NCAA men’s golf to accomplish this was Stanford’s Tiger Woods.
Hill was named the Golfweek Player of the Year, by finishing No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings and then was named the recipient to the Haskins Award.
At halftime tonight of ESPN’s first nationally televised football game of the season between South Carolina and North Carolina State, Hill be given the Haskins Award.
