NORTON, Mass. – Phil Mickelson is still on the fence for the BMW Championship.
After a final-round 66, Mickelson flew home to see his family and determine whether he will play.
If he does decide to play, he will leave home Wednesday morning and play in the latest afternoon pro-am tee time possible. If Mickelson can skip Chicago and still qualify for the Tour Championship in Atlanta, he seems likely to go that route.
“I’d like to play the Tour Championship, that would be sure unless something comes up,” Mickelson said. “I’m going to look at it and see if I’m going to be eligible if I don’t play next week.”
Mickelson is 12th in the FedEx Cup points list after Boston, which would seem to be enough to make it to Atlanta. But with a new system in place, even Tiger Woods is unsure how it all works.
