ATLANTA – Nothing like a stiff breeze at your back to make you breathe easier at a brutal finishing hole.
Heck, the 230-yard, par-3 18th at East Lake Golf Club was a veritable pushover in the third round. Need proof? How about the fact that there were two birdies. That’s right, two, one by Y.E. Yang, who knocked his shot to 5 feet, the other by Nick Watney.
Doesn’t sound like much? Well, consider that there were only two birdies combined for the first two days.
The field average in Round 3 for the 18th hole was 3.133, compared to 3.233 and 3.333 in Rounds 1 and 2, respectively.
