Led by junior Macarena Silva, Florida State won the rain-shortened Bettie Lou Fall Invitational Sunday by five shots over Central Florida.
The Seminoles, who placed second Sept. 14 at the Cougar Fall Classic, finished at 15-over 587 at the Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky. Their 5-over 289 in the second final round was a tournament best.
The event was reduced to 36 holes because of rain.
Chattanooga and Notre Dame tied for third at 26-over 598.
Silva and Paula Hurtado, a junior at Florida International, shared medalist honors at even-par 143. The score tied a 36-hole career best for Silva, who won her first college title.
Florida State senior Lacey Agnew (146) tied for fifth and sophomore Hannah Thomson (148) finished 13th.
The Seminoles, who did not crack the top 30 in Golfweek’s preseason rankings, finished 15th at the NCAA East Regional and failed to advance to the NCAA Women’s Championship.
