Amanda Blumenherst, one of Nike’s promising young athletes, is jumping onto the pro scene in just the right fashion. The former Duke star won LPGA Q-School on Monday.
However, I was surprised to see Blumenherst sans a big Nike swoosh on her polo. Though she was still sporting Nike, the Livestrong logo was featured instead.
Blumenherst first wore the Livestrong polo June 24 when she played in the Lance Armstrong/Livestrong foundation charity event during the Wegmans LPGA. She wore the black polo and carried a Livestrong golf bag, which she later signed and auctioned off for the charity.
“It’s kind of become my good-luck shirt,” Blumenherst said, referring to her Livestrong polo.
Blumenherst, who likes to wear black during the final round, will continue to wear the Nike swoosh next year on the LPGA. The Livestrong polo will only be saved for special occasions.
