The PGA Tour filled the final hole on its 2010 schedule, announcing Jan. 19 that the Sea Island (Ga.) Resort will play host to The McGladrey Classic in the Fall Series.
The Oct. 7-10 event at Sea Island’s Seaside Course will offer a $4 million purse. Davis Love III, a Sea Island resident whose foundation will be the tournament host, will be tournament chairman.
RSM McGladrey, an accounting, tax and business consulting firm, signed a three-year deal with the Tour.
“We have a full schedule,’’ commissioner Tim Finchem said.
Davis Love’s brother Mark was named the tournament’s executive director.
“We’re extremely happy to support the community that means so much to us,’’ said Davis Love, who has won 20 Tour events, including the 1997 PGA Championship.
Zach Johnson, another Sea Island resident, will serve on the tournament board.
The Seaside Course, which opened in 1929, was designed by Harry S. Colt and Charles Alison, and in 1999 was renovated by Tom Fazio.
