SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – This week is a home game of sorts for many Tour players who consider the TPC Scottsdale practically their backyard.
For some, like German Martin Kaymer, it’s a home away from home. Kaymer has set up his U.S. base here and arrives in the winter to work on his game when it gets too cold in Germany.
When asked how close he lived to the course Kaymer shot back: “You want to visit me tonight? I invite you for barbecue.”
After the laughter subsided, he said he lived 15 minutes away. He began practicing in Scottsdale four years ago.
“I liked it straightaway,” Kaymer said. “I like the mountains a little bit more than the beach.”
