ORLANDO, Fla. – PGA Tour regulations disallow the news media’s interviewing of players in the locker room.
But nobody said anything about the media center. And that familiar place is where Paul Goydos ended up when bad weather halted play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Goydos had 1 1/2 holes left when the horn blew and players had to leave the course. So he headed to the media center, a favorite spot of his, and checked airline schedules on a computer. Originally he was scheduled to fly home to California on Sunday night and then go to the Shell Houston Open a couple of days later.
Instead, he was stalled in Orlando.
“Thanks to the geniuses in charge who decided to start at 8:24 (a.m.) instead of 7:30,” Goydos said. “How’s that decision look now?”
The final group had completed 14 holes before the stoppage.
