The final round of this year’s Masters – boasting a leaderboard brimming with marquee players and fan favorites including Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Fred Couples – garnered the tournament its third-highest TV rating, according to CBS Sports.

Coverage of Mickelson capturing his third victory at Augusta National recorded an average overnight household rating/share of 12.0/25 – up 36 percent from last year’s final-round broadcast of 8.8/21 when Angel Cabrera won the tournament in a two-hole playoff.

According to the network, this year’s mark also is the third highest-rated final round of any golf tournament since at least 1986 in the metered markets (as far back as recorded CBS Nielsen data).

The Masters’ final-round record rating (15.8/32) remains the 1997 broadcast, when Tiger Woods won his first Green Jacket. Woods’ second Masters victory in 2001, when he completed the Tiger Slam, produced the second-highest, final-round results: 12.9/27.
