Fantasy Aces: AT&T National

WEEK 24, MATCH 1: Jim McCabe ($6,269,145; 9-12-2) vs. Jeff Babineau ($4,481,213; 10-9-4)

JIM McCABE

AT&T National

Site: Newton Square, Pa.

Courses: Aronimink Golf Club (7,237 yards, par 70)

Purse: $XX million

Winner’s share: $XX million

Best bet: Sean O’Hair. One of the few who can claim knowledge about Aronimink, since he’s settled in there as a member now that he’s a Pennsylvania guy. So, for what it’s worth, here’s a nod to the home-course guy.

Ace up my sleeve: Vijay Singh. Don’t care how poorly he has been playing of late, he’s tough to resist being ranked so low (70th in the Sagarin rankings). He played adequately at the U.S. Open and quite well last week at the Travelers. Let’s give him another try this week.

JEFF BABINEAU

Best bet: Tiger Woods. I know, he certainly didn’t appear ready to win on Sunday at Pebble Beach. But slowly he’s getting closer, and he doesn’t need to pound a bunch of drivers at Aronimink. This field isn’t exactly Memorial’s, and Woods needs to win to boost the confidence before he heads across the pond.

Ace up my sleeve: Ricky Barnes. Tied for the PGA Tour lead in top 10s, and a big week could translate into getting a start at the Open Championship via a mini-money list.

WEEK 23, MATCH 2: Lance Ringler ($4,203,322; 13-9-1) vs. Sean Martin ($6,319,279; 10-12-1)

LANCE RINGLER

Best bet: Jim Furyk. Don’t go with Tiger Woods just yet. This week is ideal for Furyk, who has already won twice this year. Furyk has four top 20s in his last six starts and is clear favorite this week.

Ace up my sleeve: Rickie Fowler. Soon he will not be in the sleeper category. Fowler is coming off another good finish last week at the Travelers Championship where he tied for 13th. In his previous start before that, was runner-up at The Memorial. No reason not to expect him to be close again this week.

SEAN MARTIN

Best bet: Sean O’Hair. It’s a new course this year, so I have to go with the local, Sean O’Hair, who isn’t just an Aronimink member, but has had success at the Donald Ross design. He made the semifinals of the 1997 U.S. Junior there. And while O’Hair isn’t receiving the same amount attention as this time last year, he is having a solid season. He’s finished 12th in three of his past four starts.

Ace up my sleeve: Kevin Sutherland. He’s coming off a good showing at the Travelers Championship (T-13), and Aronimink seems like the kind of course where he can have success.
