Woods (72) struggles again at Cog Hill

LEMONT, Ill. – If it’s not one thing, it’s another. That’s golf. For Tiger Woods, putting was the problem Friday at the BMW Championship.

“I made nothing today,” he said after shooting 72 for a 3-over 145 total.

Well, he did make birdie putts of 27, 11 and 6 feet and a 10-footer for par. But he did miss six putts from 6 to 14 feet.

“I hit the ball a lot better than my score indicated,” he said accurately.

When he finished, he was seven shots behind a tie for third. He needs to finish probably in the top five here at Cog Hill to advance to the FedEx Cup playoff finale, the Tour Championship for the top 30 in points.

“It was a little tough to putt … hard to make yourself hit putts hard enough,” Woods said of the greens. “They were pretty darn good last year, but obviously with the summer heat, they kind of lost a few of these greens, and they’re slow and a bit bumpy, but we all have to putt them.”
