CARACAS, Venezuela – The Tour de las Americas continues to bolster its schedule. The tour will resume its 2010 season with a series of five tournaments across three countries in October.
Argentina, Chile and Paraguay will host these events, which will raise the number of official events sanctioned by the TLA this year to 12.
It begins with a pair of tournaments in one week: the YPF Classic in Mendoza, Argentina, and the Sports Francés Open in Santiago, Chile. The YPF Classic makes its TLA debut with a prize fund of US $35,000 on Oct. 7-10 at the Golf Club Adino. The Sports Francés Open will provide a purse of US $40,000 on Oct. 8-11 at the Sports Francés Golf Club.
The following week, the US $35,000 Abierto Internacional Hacienda Chicureo is in play Oct. 14-17 at Hacienda Chicureo.
The 84th Chile Open on Oct. 21-24 will be hosted at the Granadilla Country Club in Viña del Mar.
The five-tournament swing comes to an end at the Carlos Franco Invitational on Oct. 28-31. Making its third consecutive TLA appearance and hosted by four-time PGA Tour champion Carlos Franco, the event will provide US $35,000 in prize money at the Carlos Franco Golf & Country Club in Asuncion, Paraguay.
Tour de las Americas players will be awarded Official World Golf Ranking points starting Jan. 1. The directive, announced last month by the OWGR’s governing board, propels the Latin American tour into the same tier as the OneAsia Tour.
