Bennett Lavin, No. 82 in the class of 2011, has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at Northwestern.
Lavin, who attends Deerfield (Ill.) High School, is Golfweek’s 143rd-ranked junior overall.
“I chose Northwestern because it offers the entire package,” Lavin said. “It has incredibly strong academics and the golf program has a great tradition.”
Lavin won this year’s AJGA Apawamis Junior in August after placing third at the Illinois Open, where he shot 2-under 205 to tie University of Illinois coach Mike Small.
