Blake Stasiunas has given a verbal commitment to play golf for head coach Ryan Hybl at the University of Oklahoma. Stasiunas had made unofficial visits to Texas A&M, Texas, SMU and University of Texas at Arlington. He had a planned to visit Auburn in a few weeks.
Stasiunas, who is ranked No. 37 in the 2012 class, had received an offer from Texas-Arlington and was expecting others, but committed to Oklahoma before he received further offers from other schools.
“I feel very comfortable with Coach Hybl. He is a great man and has had an awesome golf career himself. I look forward to learning from him and Coach Smart and becoming a part of their OU golf family,” Stasiunas said. “I like the fact that OU has a much smaller campus than a lot of other schools I was interested in.
“And best of all, the campus is two minutes from OU’s very nice championship Jimmie Austin Golf Club.”
Stasiunas attends Vista Ridge High School in Leander, Texas, where he claimed a pair of first-place finishes in high school tournaments last year, including the Bart Granger Memorial High School Championship in September. Stasiunas also went undefeated in the Jackie Burke Cup in November.
