Back problems caused Jamie Lovemark to withdraw from the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am after a first-round 81 at Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
Lovemark was scheduled to fly back to Florida on Friday and have his back examined in the next few days, said IMG Golf vice president Kevin Lynch. He added that Lovemark has dealt with back pain in the past, but “not to this level.”
“Jamie has been struggling with his back the last few weeks,” Lynch said. “It bothered him toward the end of the Nationwide season last year, but the rest helped in the offseason.”
Lovemark has withdrawn from next week’s Northern Trust Open at Riviera. Lovemark attended nearby USC.
Lovemark won the Nationwide Tour money list title last year, the youngest ever to do so, but has struggled in his rookie season on the PGA Tour. His tie for 58th two weeks ago at the Farmers Insurance Open is his only made cut in four starts this season.
