Jack Gibbs, the No. 2-ranked Georgia player in his class, has given a verbal commitment to Virginia. Gibbs also was recruited by Ole Miss, UNC, Georgia and Vanderbilt.
Gibbs, of Augusta, Ga., finished third in the Georgia State Junior and placed in the top 15 in the Jones Cup Junior. He had two top-25 finishes in AJGA events in 2010.
“I chose Virginia because of their ideal practice facilities, my faith in Coach Sargent to guide me to the next level, and team access to Dr. (Bob) Rotell,” Gibbs said. “The academic reputation of Virginia is second to none, which also drew my interest.”
Gibbs, 17, attends Lakeside High School.
