Or at least Annie Margulis does.
The founder and designer of Girls Golf clothing line debuted a more flamboyant and comfortable Spring line that is creating plenty of buzz.
Unfortunately, Margulis was unable to guarantee lower scores but the brand in known for their positive affirmations in scripted on the apparel – so who knows?
We sat down with Margulis to talk about the Girls Golf Collection.
Please fill us in on this years spring/fall collections and what Girls Golf has in store for us.
I think my favorite adjectives for this year’s girls golf are: “Fabulously feminine and fashionably fun.”
What has changed since last year’s collection and how is it even better than what we’ve seen in the past?
More fun with color and prints plus the addition of more outerwear pieces, a pink travel bag and a cashmere group.
What was your inspiration while designing your 2011 collections?
Some of my inspiration is what I see as trends in fashion and the arts. But I am really inspired by colors I see in my surroundings in both Florida and Michigan when I am outdoors and playing golf.
Are we still going to see wild and fun colors throughout the year?
From the beginning girls golf has always been about bright prints and colors. I believe the combination of colors, shapes, patterns and textures are endless and I always like to include a sense of humor — you need this when you play golf.
How about for your conservative Golf Girl – do you have any pieces for this customer?
Our conservative client can always find something from our collection ranging from our signature fleur de leys prints to our simple color block skorts. Pair this with our signature birdie logo polo and you have chic country club style.
How were the collections received at this year’s PGA Merchandise show? Did you get a lot of excitement circulation your booth?
Yes we had a tremendous response at the PGA show — hundreds visited our booth. Buyers from Canada, Asia, South America, Europe and the U.S. were represented. In the U.S. we will be in new venues from Aspen to East Hampton along with Europe, Canada and the addition of South America.
We took a glimpse of the Girls Golf European Collection at this year’s PGA Merchandise show and noticed a considerable difference between the cuts, fabrics and styles. Why is this?
Although Girls Golf is American born, we actually have two types of clientele: The more conservative country-club client as mentioned before and a more fashion-forward client, too. Which leads us to the Girls Golf Europe Collection; as with any line made in Europe the sizing is smaller and more fitted. In addition, the rules at country clubs in Europe and Canada are less conservative. Hemlines are shorter and graphics on shirts are very popular. I would also say the girls golf Europe collection may appeal to a younger clientele.
Is it possible to order any of the European styles here in the U.S.?
Yes, the popularity of the European line is growing here in the US. Some notable Resorts, which will carry the girls golf European collection, are The Breakers in Palm Beach, Reunion in Orlando, The Greenbrier and Lady Golf in Palm Springs, along with many other private clubs.
Give us a couple suggestions for a few Girls Golf “must-have” pieces for our wardrobe this golf season and why.
My must have pieces are: The fleur de leys or multi-block skort, the pink heart “love golf” cashmere sweater, the pink wind shirt and our signature birdie logo polo. (I am quite fond of pink)
