The Zurich Classic of New Orleans announced it has reached a sponsorship agreement with Capital One Bank, making it “the official bank” of the tournament.
But the deal includes other aspects that reveal event organizers’ efforts to better tie their sponsors and the communities they serve.
The bank’s sponsorship will include a presenting role in the annual Louisiana Forward Economic Summit, scheduled for April 26 during the week of the tournament. Since its inception two years ago the annual Economic Summit has featured speakers such as PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, retired Zurich Financial Services James Schiro and Louisiana Economic Development director Stephen Moret.
“With Capital One Bank’s assistance, we expect to attract even more high-level financial and sports marketing experts to our Economic Summit,” said tournament director Tommy Fonseca. “This event is unique on the PGA Tour and we hope to create a model that other tournaments will want to emulate.”
In addition to participating in a variety of tournament-related events, Capital One Bank will be involved with “off-season” activities to help raise funds for the Fore!Kids Foundation, the 501(c)3 non-profit that produces the tournament, according to Fonseca.
“We are proud to include the Zurich Classic of New Orleans as one of our leading community partners in this area,” said Rob Stuart, President, Capital One Bank-Louisiana. “The Fore!Kids Foundation represents exactly the type of organization we actively support, because its success contributes directly to the economic growth of our region.”
