Edwin Watts Golf Shops announced a significant expansion of its retail network, particularly in South Carolina, and additional emphasis on custom fitting.
The growth stems from four new stores, three via acquisitions. In South Carolina, the retailer expanded its footprint by converting two Golf Headquarters stores in Columbia, and it also opened a location in Bluffton. The fourth addition results in the first Edwin Watts Golf Shop in St. Louis, Mo.
All of the new locations will feature in-store launch monitors and swing-analysis software as part of the company’s commitment to performance fitting. That push has been fueled by a recent study by the Sports and Leisure Research Group that shows 90 percent of all golfers may be playing with clubs that do not fit them properly.
“Too many golfers play the game at a disadvantage simply because they do not have the proper equipment to succeed,” said John Watson, chief executive officer of Edwin Watts Golf, which has more than 90 domestic retail locations.
