Brunei and Pakistan have been added as 2011-12 tournament destinations for the Faldo Series Asia golf development program.
The new season will kick off on May 9-11 at the Philippines Championship.
The inaugural tournament in Pakistan will be at the Karachi Golf Club from July 29-31, and the new event in Brunei is scheduled for Nov. 23-24.
Five events will take place in China, while others will be held in Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, India, Bahrain, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia.
“I am delighted that more Asian golfers than ever before will benefit from the Faldo Series this season, and we look forward to welcoming new competitors from Pakistan and Brunei,” founder Nick Faldo said.
More than 1,500 golfers, ranging from 12 to 21 years old, will take part in the 2011-12 season, while many other children will be introduced to the game through grassroots efforts.
Five age-group winners from each event (three boys, two girls) will qualify for the FSA Grand Final, which Faldo will host in March 2012 at Mission Hills Golf Club in China.
The Faldo Series originated in Europe in 1996 and was brought to Asia in 2006.
Former winners on the FSA include Rory McIlroy and Nick Dougherty.
