Swiss golf glove manufacturer Hirzl announced signing Anna Nordqvist as a staff player – its first endorsement deal with an LPGA player.
The move continues the company’s intensified efforts to establish itself in the golf category. Hirzl also is the “official golf glove” of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships.
Nordqvist, who won the 2009 LPGA Championship and currently is ranked 20th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, will use Hirzl’s Soffft Flex performance gloves.
After a standout amateur career at Arizona State University, where she was a two- time All-American, Nordqvist turned professional in 2009. That year, she was the runner-up in the LPGA Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year race. She also was a 2009 Solheim Cup team member.
“She’s the ideal addition to our team as we continue our efforts to grow the Hirzl brand,” said Gary Sheppard, president of Hirzl North America, in a statement released May 9. “We anticipate significant interest in our gloves from Anna’s participation in LPGA tour events in the U.S., Canada and around the world.”
Hirzl’s product line includes the Trust Series of gloves made of kangaroo leather, which company officials say provides enhanced grip. The Soffft Flex gloves are made of Cabretta leather and feature a 72-step tanning procedure designed to extend the glove’s peak performance.
