Johnston (No. 32, 2012) commits to UTSA

Allie Johnston has given a verbal commitment to the University of Texas-San Antonio. Johnston is No. 32 in the 2012 class and the second-ranked junior golfer in Colorado.

Johnston made unofficial visits to Colorado, Denver, Northwestern, Baylor, Georgia, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Wake Forest and Texas Tech. She also considered SMU, Oklahoma State and BYU.

“I chose UTSA because it has everything I am looking for in a school. USTA has a great coaching staff, and I feel like I can really improve at UTSA,” said Johnston, who attends Rock Canyon High School in Castle Rock, Colo. “The climate and the facilities are perfect. It is a perfect fit for me.”

Johnston won the AJGA Lubbock Junior, claimed victory at the Colorado Junior Stroke Play Championship by eight strokes and competed in the USGA Girls’ Junior and Women’s Amateur Public Links.
