Nicole Noelle Smith, who is chasing her dream on the LPGA’s Futures Tour, has provided Golfweek with an exclusive blog in 2011.
She’ll have some even better stories to tell now.
Smith, who played college golf at the University of Tennessee, was cast for the Golf Channel’s Big Break Ireland, which will premiere on Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. EST.
The series takes place at The K Club in Kildare, Ireland, the same club that hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup.
Smith is among six women that are competing for two exemptions into tournaments on the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour, among other prizes. The six men on the show will be playing for an exemption into a field on the European PGA Tour.
Smith has some stiff professional competition, with Mallory Blackwelder, Annie Brophy, Kelly Jacques and Whitney Wright standing in her way of fulfilling her dream of playing on the LPGA Tour.
Brophy is the player that caused a scene at the 2010 NCAA Central Regional, where she reported fake scores to the live scoring officials on the course.
The men include Joe Campbell, Bennett Maki, Matt Melrose, Mark Murphy, Julien Trudeau and Andy Walker.
The series will feature both the Palmer Smurfit Course and the Palmer Ryder Cup Course.
While Nicole will not be able to reveal details of who won the contest, stay tuned for more commentary on her adventure to Ireland and how it has changed her game leading up to the series premiere in September.
