Maxime Blandin of Fort-de-France, Martinique has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at SMU.
Blandin, who is ranked No. 57 in the 2012 class, had made unofficial visits to Auburn, North Florida, UCF and SMU. He also considered Arizona State, New Mexico and South Florida.
“I fell in love with SMU as soon as I saw the place,” Blandin said. “The school is really challenging, and I want a bright future, so I needed a challenging academic school like SMU. The coaches are some of the best I have ever met. They are really motivated and optimistic for the future, and I really like that. Dallas is an awesome town.”
Blandin is the second-ranked junior golfer in France. He has recorded four second-place finishes in FCWT events and tied for third at the AJGA Under Armour/Vicky Hurst Championship in May.
Blandin joins Bryson DeChambeau of Clovis, Calif., and Ryan Burgess of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., in the 2012 class to commit to SMU.
