The 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship will be played at Forest Creek Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C., the U.S. Golf Association announced Sept. 22. The dates of the championship for players 25 and older will be Oct. 5-10, 2013.
It will be the first USGA championship for Forest Creek, though the course has hosted sectional qualifiers for the U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Girls’ Junior. Forest Creek also has hosted the AJGA’s 2011 Golf Pride Junior Classic and the 2010 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship.
The U.S. Mid-Amateur will be played on the North and South courses, both of which were designed by Tom Fazio. The South Course opened in 1996, while the North Course was added in 2005.
“We are honored and grateful that the USGA has entrusted our golf club with the distinct honor of hosting one of its prestigious national championships,” said Forest Creek Golf Club president Terry Brown in a statement. “We have two highly rated golf courses that I am confident will stand up to the high quality and challenges expected by the Mid-Amateur Committee as well as the players. We very much look forward to October 2013.”
The 2012 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship will be played at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
