Isabel Southard, the No. 31-ranked player in the 2012 class, has given a verbal commitment to stay in New England and play college golf at Boston College. Southard, who attends Sharon (Mass.) High School, made unofficial visits to Texas, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Maryland and Boston College.
“I feel like Boston College is an up-and-coming golf program, and it is a place where I can have an immediate impact,” Southard said. “I also feel like BC offers me a great combination of experienced coaches and strong academics. Besides, I will have the opportunity to play in the ACC and still be in the best city in the world.”
Southard recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in AJGA tournaments this past summer, including a win at the Killington Junior Golf Championship. She advanced to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Girls’ Junior in July.
