In a continuing effort to market its proprietary brands globally, Golfsmith International announced a partnership with The MoreGolf Group, South Africa’s largest golf retailer.
The agreement designates MoreGolf to exclusively sell MacGregor golf products and other Golfsmith brands through the South African company’s retail locations, including The Pro Shop and World of Golf.
In addition, the deal calls for the two partners to share best practices in merchandising, operations, club fitting, sourcing, and sales and marketing.
In the past year, the Austin, Texas-based retail chain with nearly 80 U.S. stores has formed similar alliances with partners in Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Said Rhys Hughes, MoreGolf’s executive director, in a statement: “Global thinking, along with best international practice is becoming a pre-requisite in the continual search for an enduring competitive advantage. We have engaged with the Golfsmith team at various levels, and believe the chemistry is there to deliver on these synergies.”
