Cummings (No. 48, 2012) commits to North Carolina

Keagan Cummings, who attends the Pendleton School at IMG Academies, has given a verbal commitment to play college golf for Andrew Sapp at the University of North Carolina.

Cummings, who is from Dublin, Ireland, made unofficial visits to North Carolina, Augusta State, Michigan, Oregon, Florida and Texas A&M, and narrowed his choices to North Carolina, Oregon and Florida.

“When I visited Michigan, coach (Andrew) Sapp was recruiting me,” Cummings said. “I built a great relationship with him while he was there and was strongly considering going there. Once he moved to UNC, he asked me to visit and I loved it.”

Cummings, who is ranked No. 48 in the 2012 class, is a member of the 2011 Irish Boys Home Internationals team. He advanced to the second round of match play at the 2011 British Boys Amateur Championship after finishing 16th in stroke-play qualifying. He won the 2010 Naples Grande IMG Tour event, shooting a course-record 65 in the final round, and placed seventh at the AJGA Under Armour/Vicky Hurst Championship last May.
