Southern States Four-Ball to be revived in January

The Southern Golf Association is reviving the elite Southern States Four-Ball Championship after more than a half-century of dormancy. The event will be played Jan. 17-19 at Mayacoo Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.

It will be called the ninth Southern States Four-Ball and feature two divisions of 30 teams each: Mid-Amateurs (25 or older) and Seniors (both players 55 or older). The format will be a 54-hole stroke-play event, with no cut. The event was last played in 1948.

Entry forms are expected to be posted on the SGA website, http://www.sgagolf.com, in mid-to-late November, with a notification via email.
