For years the Cleveland 588 provided a classic look and dependable performance. With the 588 Forged wedge, Cleveland tried to keep everything that many people loved about the original while adding significant upgrades.
Forged from 1025 carbon steel for soft feel, at address the 588 Forged wedge has a familiar look with a relatively high toe and narrow top line. In the satin chrome models (it’s also available in a black pearl version), the grooves in the hitting area are encased in a slightly darker, glare-reducing finish.
Cleveland gave the 588 Forged wedge Tour Zip grooves to generate spin, then laser-etched microgrooves between each of the main grooves to increase surface roughness and further boost spin.
The loft options range from 46 to 64 degrees, and several of the lofts are available in low-, standard- and high-bounce versions.
When the 588 Forged wedge was released it sold for $140 with a steel shaft.
