Ramsey Touchberry has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at the University of Florida.
Touchberry, from Bradenton, Fla., made unofficial visits to Auburn and Wake Forest, and had planned to visit Florida State and North Florida before committing to Florida.
Touchberry, a sophomore at Lakewood Ranch High School, said head coach Buddy Alexander was a major draw to the Gators’ program.
“When I visited UF, the one thing that was far above the others was the coach,” he said. “Buddy Alexander is phenomenal and has been there some 20 years. He’s played in the Masters and he’s won the U.S. Am, and he has so many experiences. When I met with him, the information we shared was just great. We really clicked.”
In the past year, Touchberry had a top-5 and two top-10 finishes in AJGA tournaments, and finished in the top 5 in every Florida Junior Tour event in which he played.
