The Cobra AMP Cell hybrids might be available in four colors (blue, orange, red and silver), but don’t think they are all sizzle. The adjustability and technologies designed into the AMP Cell hybrids can make them worth considering for a wide range of golfers.
An adjustable hosel system allows each of the three hybrids to have a 3-degree loft range, so setting one up to hit to a specific distance or to ensure proper gapping between fairway woods and longest iron should be easier.
To ensure that the club rests squarely on the ground regardless of the loft setting, Cobra developed a system it calls SmartPad. In essence, it is a stripe in the sole just behind the leading edge that tips the club into a square position every time. The company says that squaring the club in this manner makes it easier for accomplished players to work the ball more easily.
They also feature a face design that is slightly higher in the toe area. After studying how golfers mis-hit their shots most often, Cobra engineered a face design that optimizes performance in the low-heel and high-toe to compensate for those misses. As a result, golfers should be able to hit slightly mis-hit shots nearly as far as shots hit in the sweetspot.
The 2-3H (16-19 degrees), 3-4 (19-22 degrees) and 4-5H (22-25 degrees) were all $189 with a stock graphite shaft when first made available.
