LAKE WORTH, Fla. – As the postseason approaches, the Florida State men’s team and Brooks Koepka seem to be warming up at exactly the right time. The Seminoles senior shot an 8-under 63 Sunday in the final round of the FAU Spring Break Invitational to win his second consecutive individual title and lead FSU, No. 25 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, to its second team title in a row as well.
Koepka’s 63 at the Fountains Country Club tied the school record set by Matt Savage in the final round of the Florida State Spring Invitational in spring 2009. Koepka, who finished at 14-under 199 – a school record for 54 holes – led a 1-2-3 Seminoles sweep individually, as Wesley Graham finished second and Doug Letson finished third. Koepka had three birdies on his first four holes and made the turn at 6 under, then added two more birdies on the back nine.
In the team race, FSU shot 11-under 273 in the final round and finished at 23-under 829 to win by 19 shots over Ohio State (848). Northern Illinois (853) finished third.
