Chris Petefish, the top-ranked player in Arizona, has made a verbal commitment to play for Georgia Tech. Petefish also made unofficial visits to Stanford, Washington, UCLA, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and Duke.
Petefish, of Scottsdale, chose to play across the country because of Georgia Tech’s facilities, coaches and academic reputation.
“To be a member at The Golf Club of Georgia and East Lake Golf Club is as good as it gets,” he said. “In addition, the practice area on campus is a huge bonus. I am fortunate to have many opportunities for which I am very thankful, but in the end I was certain that I wanted to play for Coach (Bruce) Heppler and Coach (Christian) Newton.”
Petefish recently finished sixth at the Scott Robertson Memorial and third at the Arizona Public Links Championship. He also was 12th at the Jones Cup Junior, and won the Arizona State High School Championship.
