Alec Tahy has given a verbal commitment to play college golf for Arkansas in the fall of 2013. He also made unofficial visits to Ohio State, Illinois, Duke, Northwestern, Kent State, Stanford, Notre Dame and Texas A&M.
Tahy, a senior at Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, Ohio, eventually chose Arkansas because he thought it was the best fit for him.
“I feel like Coach (Brad) McMakin and Coach (Barrett) Lais will help me take my game to the next level,” he said. “Having the ability to practice and play at the Blessings (Golf Club) every day with very talented teammates will challenge me and help me reach my goals.”
In 2008, a 13-year-old Tahy became the youngest player to qualify for and play four rounds at the Ohio Amateur (the record had been held by Jack Nicklaus). Tahy also has three top-10 finishes in AJGA events and one top-10 finish in a PGA Junior Series event. He was 10th at the 2011 Hudson Junior.
