Adam Hadwin barely missed out on a PGA Tour card at last year’s Web.com Tour Championship. He’ll be on the PGA Tour at least this week, though.
Hadwin shot 64 Monday at El Camino Country Club to qualify for the Farmers Insurance Open. He shared medalist honors with Mark Baker. Brad Adamonis and Michael McCabe shot 66 to earn the other two available spots in the field at Torrey Pines.
Hadwin finished third at the Web.com Tour money list to finish 30th on the money list. He would’ve finished in the top 25 in money – and earn a PGA Tour card – if James Hahn hadn’t made birdie on the Web.com Tour Championship’s final hole. Hadwin was already finished with his round and watching intently as Hahn pitched to 2 feet from about 40 yards to make birdie on the par-5 18th at TPC Craig Ranch. Hadwin also missed his PGA Tour card by two shots at Q-School.
Hadwin had two top-10s on the PGA Tour in 2011, finishing fourth at the Canadian Open and seventh at the Frys.com Open.
Adamonis is a former PGA Tour player who’s best career finish was second at the 2008 John Deere Classic, where he lost a playoff to Kenny Perry.
