North Carolina State claimed its first title of the season at the USF Invitational on Tuesday at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
The Wolfpack won the invitational in wire-to-wire fashion. Down the stretch, N.C. State junior Albin Choi’s birdie on No. 17 staked the Wolfpack to a one-shot victory.
South Carolina finished second with a 3-under 861 total, and Florida State placed third at 1-under 863.
Choi, No. 15 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, won the individual title by three shots. This was Choi’s third consecutive victory dating to the fall and his fourth win in seven starts this season. He shot rounds of 68-68-72 to finish at 8-under 208. Florida State’s Daniel Berger, South Carolina’s Dykes Harbin and Mercer’s Hans Reimers tied for second at 5-under 211.
