BETHESDA, Md. – After play was called Friday due to inclement weather, players returned to the course Saturday morning to complete their second rounds.
Among those players was Andres Romero, who put the finishing touches on a 5-under 66 to move to 6 under, one shot behind co-leaders Jordan Spieth and Roberto Castro.
Patrick Reed wrapped up his 7-under 64 Saturday morning. Reed tied Anthony Kim’s tournament record of 6-under 29 on the back nine before play was called Friday. Reed is 2 under overall after being 5 over after the first round.
The cut line fell at 3 over, meaning Jason Day (1 over), Adam Scott (2 over) and Nick Watney (3 over) will still play more golf Saturday. Watney had made his way up the leaderboard with three straight birdies at Nos. 5-7 on Friday. But he finished with a 75 Saturday, playing the back nine in 5 over.
Those missing the cut include Freddie Jacobson, Hunter Mahan, Sang-Moon Bae and last year’s runner-up, Bo Van Pelt.
