Another tourney, another 59 for the Web.com Tour – as Russell Knox cards the magical sub-60 score during the second round of the Boise Open.
A 29 on his back nine Friday (Hillcrest CC’s par-36 front) keyed the charge. Knox, of Scotland, who played collegiately at Jacksonville, has earned $259,473 on the PGA Tour this season, making seven of 10 cuts. He’s also made six of eight cuts (sure to be seven of nine after today) on the Web.com Tour for $50,536 in earnings.
Knox’s 59 is the fifth in Web.com Tour history, as Will Wilcox added the fourth at the Utah Championship two weeks ago; Notah Begay III, Doug Dunakey and Jason Gore own the other three.
Oh by the way, at 14 under par, Knox holds the Boise lead by a stroke over Hunter Haas, Jamie Lovemark and Bronson La’Cassie as the second round continues.
