Bernhard Langer used a nearly-perfect 4-under 66 to take a three-shot lead on Saturday at the Senior British Open.
Langer, the 2010 Senior British champ, birdied three of his first seven holes to distance himself from Mark Wiebe, with whom he shared the 36-hole lead.
Langer will play in Sunday’s final group with David Frost, who picked up a second consecutive 68. Wiebe is in third after an even-par 70.
“That was as good as I can play,” said Langer, who had only one bogey on Saturday. “My ball-striking was almost perfect and I played really well, apart from the mistake at the 14th.”
Sandy Lyle, Peter Fowler and Gene Sauers are T-4 and six shots back, while Fred Couples broke par for the first time this week, picking up a 68, but is at 4 over for the tournament.
