Go-to guy: Junior Kyle Jones
Season outlook: The key for Baylor this season will be finishing off tournaments. The Bears struggled to find consistency a year ago before seeing their season end with a tie for 10th at the NCAA Pullman Regional.
“We played well at times and put ourselves in position to win several tournaments, but struggled to put 54 holes together,” head coach Greg Priest said.
Perhaps a little more experience this year will lend to better results down the stretch. Baylor returns its top four scoring leaders from last year in juniors Kyle Jones, Niclas Mansson, Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen and Filippo Zucchetti. Jones and Zucchetti each had three top-10 finishes a season ago, and Mansson had four top 15s. If the members of this foursome can step up their games just slightly, Baylor should contend for an NCAA Championship berth.
The only player who played 10 or more events not returning is the graduated Ryan O’Rear. Sophomore Andreas Gjesteby started seven tournaments a year ago, and the Bears also add freshman Luke Neeley to the mix this fall.
