We are counting down the top 30 men’s teams heading into the fall college season.

2012-13 Golfweek rank: 14
Go-to guy: Junior Eric Banks
Season outlook: The departures of Tyler McCumber and T.J. Vogel will leave a huge void at the top of head coach Buddy Alexander’s lineup. McCumber and Vogel combined for 67 rounds and 10 top-10 finishes last season, and both were first-team All-Southeastern Conference selections.
Stepping into lead roles now will be juniors Eric Banks and J.D. Tomlinson. Banks had a 73.43 scoring average as a sophomore, playing 23 rounds after missing the fall season recovering from open-heart surgery. Tomlinson logged a team-high 35 rounds last season. Both struggled in the postseason, though, so they must become more consistent in big events.
A.J. Crouch made an impact as a freshman a year ago, finishing with a 74.77 scoring average in 26 rounds. Junior Santiago Gavino also figures to play a more prominent role this season. The Gators also will add freshmen Ryan Orr of Belleair, Fla., and Victor Tarnstrom of Sweden to the mix. Tarnstrom has been a member of the Swedish national and European Junior Ryder Cup teams.
Florida still has the talent to return to the NCAA Championship for a 14th consecutive year. But after losing two of the program’s more decorated players, it won’t be an easy task.
