Woods WDs from Notah Begay charity event

A day after sources close to Tiger Woods indicated that the World No. 1 is likely to play in the Deutsche Bank Championship starting on Friday, Woods did withdraw from the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y.

Whether or not this will have an implication on Woods’ status for the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs this weekend at TPC Boston is unclear.

Woods is dealing with an ailing back that took center stage on Sunday at the Barclays, dropping to his knees after an errant shot at the par-5 13th. He’d go on to bogey the hole and lose by a stroke to Adam Scott after two late birdies.

In his only interview since the round, Woods said that playing at the Deutsche Bank was all “hypothetical,” although the sources did say that Woods had improved on Monday.

Woods will be replaced in the Notah Begay event by Gary Woodland.
