The Deutsche Bank Championship was added Wednesday to Tiger Woods’ schedule posted at his official website, TigerWoods.com.
A five-time winner this season and the leader in FedEx Cup points this season on the PGA Tour, Woods fought back pain and spasms during last weeks’ playoff opener, The Barclays, in Jersey City, N.J. His schedule has been in flux since. The injury had originated during the PGA Championship, Woods said.
Woods subsequently withdrew Tuesday from the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y., although he and Begay are good friends. This came a day after he was listed in the PGA Tour’s official tee times and after sources told Golfweek that Woods was feeling well enough to play in the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston.
Saying the beds in his hotel were soft last week, Woods’ comments echoed those from 2012 – when at The Barclays at Bethpage State Park, he mentioned that he sometimes sleeps on the floor.
