Kentucky extends lead, wins 'Mo'Morial by 11 shots

Kentucky held on to its second-round lead at the “Mo”Morial and cruised to victory on Wednesday to start the season.

The Wildcats shot a final-round 2-under 286 at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas, and finished the 54-hole event at 8-over 872. Kentucky was 11 shots ahead of runner-up Virginia.

Freshman Haley Mills led the Kentucky charge with her individual victory. Mills finished 54 holes at 3-under 213 (70-72-71). Teammate Sarah Harris tied for runner-up honors at 1-over 217 (72-71-74). Liz Breed tied for seventh and Ale Walker tied for 20th.

UCF was third, two shots behind Virginia, and East Carolina finished solo fourth with a 29-over 893 total. Host Texas A&M rounded out the top 5. The Aggies’ “B” team was seventh, another 27 shots back.
